About Skylar

Embodied Voice Freedom.

The story

The voice was always the doorway.

Skylar Temple Singer has been working at the intersection of body, voice, and soul for years — as a singer, as a practitioner, and as someone who knows firsthand what it is to have a voice that learned to stay small.

The work that became Trauma-Informed Voice Liberation grew from a question she kept encountering in her own healing and in the rooms she held: what happens when the voice isn't just trained — when it's actually freed? Not the performed voice. Not the projected voice. The one underneath all of that. The soul voice.

The moment she found that voice in herself — and began finding it in the women she worked with — everything changed. The wounded parts stopped running the show. The authentic expression that had always been there beneath them began to emerge.

That is still the work. It has never changed.

Skylar is based in Los Angeles. She works 1:1 virtually and in-person, holds private ceremonial retreats, trains practitioners, and facilitates group experiences across the country and internationally.

The method

The Somatic Voice Method.

The Somatic Voice Method is Skylar's framework for trauma-informed voice liberation. It begins with a simple observation that most voice work misses: the voice doesn't live in the throat. It lives in the body — in the belly, the chest, the womb, the jaw, the places where emotion gets stored and held and, eventually, silenced.

The 3–7 second window

In the moment before speaking — before singing, before expressing — there is a window. That window is where the parts decide whether it's safe. The Somatic Voice Method works inside that window, at the root of where the voice goes quiet.

Parts work + voice

Every part that learned to stay quiet has a reason. The work meets those parts, gives them voice, and in doing so — liberates the deeper voice underneath. Not bypassing. Not overriding. Actually listening.

Sound as medicine

Toning, cymatics, and vocal sound are not performance tools here — they are somatic tools. Vibration moves through the body and shifts what words alone cannot reach. This is sound used as medicine.

Training & lineage

Where the work comes from.

Skylar's training spans somatic healing, parts-based therapy frameworks, sound healing arts, ceremonial facilitation, and vocal work. She is an ISHA-certified trainer — Intuitive Sound Healing Arts — and brings that rigor into everything she teaches and holds.

The trauma-informed foundation of her work came in part through a specific recognition: a singing teacher in Bali told one of her clients to find someone "trauma-informed" to work with their voice. That language — trauma-informed — crystallized what she had already been doing intuitively, and deepened the explicit framework she now teaches.

She is also a plant medicine ceremony facilitator and retreat host, trained in the ceremonial traditions she works within. All ceremonial work is held with respect, preparation, and integration support.
